Dear friends and colleagues,
As we put 2022 behind us, it's hard to believe just how much has happened in the past 12 months. From the highs of the bull to the lows of the bear, it's been a rollercoaster ride for many of us.
But despite the challenges we've faced, there is much to be hopeful about as we look ahead to 2023. The market may be unpredictable, but the commitment to innovation and experimentation in blockchain technology remains strong.
As we move into the new year, let's continue to push the boundaries of what is possible with this exciting and transformative technology. Whether we're participating in DeFi, trading NFTs, or building the infrastructure of the decentralized future, let's approach 2023 with a positive attitude and a determination to make the most of this unique moment in history.
Let’s take a look back at the year that was…
In 2022, we:
Launched Skylab, our curated community of web3 builders. With hundreds on the waitlist, we’re on-boarding a wave of new members to the community starting this month.
Closed our pre-seed round, with some of the most notable names in this industry including PunkDAO, The LAO, Bufficorn Ventures, Erick Calderon (Snowfro), Devin Finzer (OpenSea), Bain Capital Crypto, ConsenSys Mesh, and Polygon Ventures, among other amazing DAOs and builder-angels.
Started publishing editorial content, covering everything from issues in DAOs to community design.
Launched Santa.fm, our NFT gift exchange. We’ve had over 3100 gifts added, including a Chromie Squiggle from Snowfro himself. We even launched a spin-off private gift pool for the PoolTogether community— all in the span of one week.
So what did we learn?
Everyone loves a fun community project. We launched Santa.fm as a fun holiday side-project. Turns out, lots of users felt this way too. So many folks have shared messages this past week about how excited they are about their gifts. We’ve also received interest from others about using this technology on other projects throughout the year.
Team work makes the dream work. This is especially true for a nimble team like ours. Santa.fm was shipped in 2 weeks. No joke. And the best bonding happens over the experience of building. One of the coolest things we’ve experienced as a team is the trust and respect we’ve built with each other, with every milestone.
And finally, community is everything. Having the amazing support of our VenturePunk community means everything. It’s the foundation of everything we build. From Skylab, to our written content, to silly projects like Santa.fm - our community is why we do this. Community is not an afterthought.
As we start 2023, we want to thank you for joining us on this journey.
We’re in the middle of several really exciting projects launching in Q1. Expect our next product announcement within the next few weeks.
Here's to a healthy and happy 2023, full of meaningful growth in the world of decentralized tech!
Jordan + the VenturePunk team!
